Riding over roots!

Overveiw:

Roots show up on almost every mountain biking trail you may come across. Whether the trail is easy, hard, steep or windy roots tend to find their way in there creating another obsticle. These roots can often times be big and very challenging so lets get into how to ride them.

How:

The most important thing to think about while riding roots is maintaining balance. Without balance riding roots is nearly impossible. Center your body in an upright position with a slight bend in the knees and the elbows. Once you have the correct position its time to talk about speed. You do need some speed to get over the roots in your path, but too much speed can end up bouncing you higher than intended casuing you to lose control. One thing you can to do lower the chance of you bouncing higher is staying set with your strong stance on your bike with a firm grip making sure your center of gravity is lower. The final thing you need to consider is your pedals. You want your pedals to be even height so they don't clip on a root causing an accident.

Outro:

Riding roots can be a lot of fun once you know how to ride them. I personally love riding roots and have even learned how to catch air off of them and do some tricks. Most importantly its good for you to know your skill level so you can stay safe. You can contact me if you have any questions and make sure to have fun!
