What is the purpose?
The purpose of staying on the trail and not going off into areas besides it has many reasons such as hurting wildlife, damaging plants and more.
Reason number one:
The first reason is wildlife. When mountain biking in the woods you are sourrounded by wildlife. Essentially the wildlife you are surrounded by is sharing it's home with you. Actions such as biking or walking into areas that are not apart of the trail can cause disruption to these animals homes and a shift in the ecosystem. That's the first reason staying on the trail is important. We can co-exist while still living good.
Reason number two:
The second reason to stay on the trail is to protect the plants that grow in these forests. Similarly to the animals, the forest is these plants homes. They need the forest to thrive and survive. Actions such as running them over, digging them up and cutting these plants away is very harmful to the ecosystem. The forest isn't the only home for these plants, animals also rely on them for food, shelter and much more.
Final reason:
The final reason to stay on the trail is for the better of anyone. Sometimes unexpected pieces of litter or debree can fall from your clothes or your bike casuing litter and pollution on the trail. Going off trail into areas can also be of danger to yourself due to unexpected obsticals causing you to get hurt.
Overview:
The moral of this post is to stay on the trail at all costs. There are more reasons than just those three, but I wanted to list the three that stood out to me the most. Make sure to stay on the trail, stay safe and have fun!
